Benjamin, an OCD-afflicted supermarket employee, unexpectedly befriends a lost Greyhound named Gary while contemplating a dead whale at the local beach. With the weekend underway and no dog warden available until Monday, Benjamin reluctantly takes the dog under his care, despite his germophobia and anxiety, leading to some comic and awkward moments.

Enter Leonard, an ex-snooker champion turned takeout delivery guy, who senses something fishy about Benjamin and Gary's odd pairing. He realises the dog's impressive pedigree and smells a potential fortune. As luck would have it, Gary turns out to have a tempting reward offered for his safe return. Leonard, never one to pass up an opportunity, decides to visit Benjamin.

As Benjamin and Gary bond through comical bathtub mishaps, they attract the attention of Vasil, the original dognapper now in pursuit of the escaped dog.

Leonard pays a visit to Benjamin's caravan, but in a twist of fate, Vasil confronts them both and forcibly takes Gary. Quick-thinking Leonard takes matters into his own hands and grapples with Vasil, creating chaos and leaving time for Gary to escape.

Benjamin flees to the beach alone and encounters, what has now become, two beached whales, triggering a profound realisation within him. Fuelled by newfound clarity, he rushes back to the supermarket seeking solace. Camille, his supervisor, provides the kindness Benjamin has been missing; reassuring him that she can guide him through his emotions.

Meanwhile, Gary has given his captures the slip and now runs free, embodying grace and beauty, unaware of the profound impact he's had on Benjamin.
